How long does the process take?
Kiosk: You pre-study with our 200 frame power point learning presentation.  You are in control, so if you know something you can forward to the next screen. You can take as long as you want on an item that you may want to refresh on, such as temperatures or pathogens.  When you are ready, take a short break and our proctor will get you checked in to take the test on computer. We have had students take 4 hrs to study and some only an hour or two.  You have two hours to complete the test which averages 80 questions.  Most people take between 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete it.  You will know if you passed or failed immediately after the test.  Your certificate will be mailed to you.
Original: You have six hours of instructor led power point instruction thqt includes additioanl practicle examples and class Q & A. Following the class you have two hours to complete the test which averages 80 questions.  Most people take between 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete it. Our average is 95% pass rate, that is why we can give you our pass the tet guarantee.

Do I need a study book?

Most people that have English as a first language do not need to pre-study by book. However, if you are new to food safety and opt for the Kiosk you may want to pre-study as well. The book is also a great reference for questions on the job and to use as a training tool for your food handlers.  You can purchase a book on-line, pick one up at the school, or in our classroom day of class.

What if I have a food safety question later?
We are available to our students for consultations and to answer any food safety and compliance questions you may have in the future. If we don't know we will find out or refer you to an expert that does.

What if I was visited by the Health Inspector?
If you were told by an inspector that you or your staff need to complete training for non compliance of licensing certificates or violations, we will contact them and let them know you are enrolled in a class & test as soon as you have enrolled and paid.  Please let our staff this is needed.  We have a very good rapor with enforcement.  Usually as long as you are enrolled and have proof of enrollment in an upcoming class you will be in compliance when the health inspector comes back. DO NOT MISS A CLASS THAT IS SCHEDULED FOR THIS REASON.

Is this class the same as a food handler card?
No. A food handler card is for all employees that will handle food at your establishment.  Check below for Maricopa County Test dates and addresses.  For other counties go to your local Department of Health and check their test shedule.
